Egypt & human knowledge · The WCE vision

Rooted in Egypt.
Connected to the world.

From the Rosetta Stone, which helped the world read ancient Egypt, to Atlas as an artistic symbol of shared responsibility: language, heritage, and the arts build bridges of knowledge between people.

Atlas · An artistic reflection on perseverance and shared responsibility

Carrying knowledge forward

Atlas: a shared responsibility

We interpret Atlas as an artistic symbol of perseverance: to preserve knowledge, exchange perspectives, and open possibilities for future generations. This meaning is WCE’s contemporary reading of the symbol.

About Atlas and the celestial sphere

In Greek mythology, Atlas was condemned to support the heavens. The sphere in this artwork represents the celestial sky and stars, rather than planet Earth.

Egypt: a key to understanding the past

The Rosetta Stone: knowledge across languages

The Rosetta Stone carries an Egyptian decree from 196 BCE in three scripts: hieroglyphic, Demotic, and ancient Greek, representing two languages, Egyptian and Greek. Comparing its texts helped scholars decipher ancient Egyptian writing, opening a path to understanding Egypt’s history and civilization.

Why does it inspire WCE?

For us, the Rosetta Stone represents the power of language, translation, and research to reconnect people with their heritage. This Egyptian contribution to human knowledge inspires WCE’s mission: education that unlocks meaning, art that invites dialogue, and culture that connects Egypt with the world.
